Since they are getting what they supposed to get in marriage while single, they fear marriage will limit their freedom.
They will be tied to just their mate and that is what many do not want.
'Why being tied to one person while after all I can get that same thing while single and even from various people?' They reason. You see?
Many have the idea that love is sweeter with a person not tied to you. With just a boy or girl friend. So to them, why get tied to just one person?
